My way of expressing

by Agnieszka 25. July 2011 01:22

I was just wondering, how communicating my feelings, emotions and thoughts changed over the course of a lifetime. For example, in the past I was always very careful with following statements: “I love you” and “I love it”. Serious about its implication in a rigid way, I reserved it for the authentic moments, bearing the heavy weights. I believed in not overusing that expression, afraid of losing its meaning. Concern that my “vocabulary”, will be left without description for “true and groundbreaking events”.  Then, something happened in the way I perceived … I became truly appreciative of very simple moments in my life. They were not defining my existence in sharp ways, making tremendous impact on today or tomorrow, nevertheless …they were perfect, happy, unforgettable, unique actions or states, at that time. I loved them...despite all other imperfections …

My life didn’t have to be perfect in every possible way…it could be just at this short moment… or at that small occurrence. Since I’ve realized, that nothing last forever and my perfect picture will never completely materialize… I’ve decided to enjoy the ordinary elements of everyday magic and…feel happy. The same principle works with people…just because I love someone …it doesn’t mean they are without any faults… I accept them with their unpleasant habits, aggravating actions or weaknesses.

I suppose my “natural born” perfectionist graduated and became a little wiser. Life around us will never be totally perfect…we are striving to be better, smarter, changing and fulfilling our hopes and dreams. Let’s not forget how to enjoy what we have right now by saying “ I love it” or “I love you” ...despite problems, faults, wrongdoings… It means, I am choosing the light, hope and spirit of gratefulness. Does it imply, I will just sit…and do nothing…happy with my status quo? Definitely not, I wish not only for me, but also for the world to change for better … but in meantime, I want to say “thank you” for even the smallest, positive elements of that fabric by exclaiming” I love it”…and “ I love you “… by choosing to see the best in everyone .

The Little Prince

"People where you live," the little prince said, "grow five thousand roses in one garden... yet they don't find what they're looking for..."

"They don't find it," I answered.

"And yet what they're looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water..."

"Of course," I answered.

And the little prince added, "But eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart."
