Intuition 111th Day 04-21

What is an intuition? The definition states something among these lines…”It’s instinctive and unconscious knowing without deduction or reasoning “. We use other words to describe it …gut feeling, sixth sense, inner voice, inner sense, and spiritual guide. Some of us can’t accept existence of such a sensors and label the intuition as a “tapping” to collective intelligence…collective conscious.

I am not trying to change our way of making decisions from analytical, logical to the one based on intuition…I just believe there is room for both of them …and why not, if it is going to help us make better decision, chose wiser path.

It can even save life…I remember when my youngest son was just 6 weeks old and then again around 6 years, the life and death decisions were purely made out of intuition…logic suggested something else…typical scenario…yet deep inside of me, the strong feeling  led me toward actions, not based on “real life” . I knew intuitively, not to listen to everyone around me … I followed my sense of direction with stubborn determination and refused to leave an emergency room... still remember two or three different physicians trying to talk me into going home, assuring everything is just fine, looking at me as the case of hysterical mom …I couldn’t understand myself…logically they were correct…I just knew …they were wrong…

That was my first “big “lesson to always include my intuition …even against logic ….  It was a certain paradox for me...coming from a place of almost religious faith in intelligence and power of rational mind. One must wonder about the “bigger picture” in life and its lessons … I couldn’t learn it out of the books… my mind “wouldn’t let me”…satisfied with its own “superiority”.

All, I am suggesting is not to dismiss the intuition, give it a chance and be aware of its existence. The more we trust it …the more we can “read” it….as if our perception changed and we are capable of “seeing”. Since then …whenever anyone of my friends becomes a parent…I wish for them to always listen to that gut feeling…It’s the way of a nature …to protect our kids, making us more sensitive to  this “extra sense”.

Developing intuition and creating balance with logic is one of the most important skills we can acquire. Many times we use an idea of instinct and intuition as the same thing; to me it’s in the same family but slightly different. Instinct is more prominent when we think of life preservation but we also have an intuition, which has larger spectrum, involving not merely survival but very individualized decision about our direction in life, best path or important solutions.

We are all born with an intuition…for some of us its stronger, others can develop it as well... by taking baby steps …and gradually learning to let go of the magic feeling and acknowledge it as a very natural aspect of life. Our western education doesn’t help much with being open to an idea of intuition but once we realize it, we are capable of consciously changing that view. It’s time for us to move away from only rational confines and narrow ways of experiencing the world  by including broader spectrum of understanding, based on the idea of oneness and unity. Intuition is definitely a necessary and vital part of it.

The Little Prince

"People where you live," the little prince said, "grow five thousand roses in one garden... yet they don't find what they're looking for..."

"They don't find it," I answered.

"And yet what they're looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water..."

"Of course," I answered.

And the little prince added, "But eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart."
