"Performing" a balance

by Agnieszka 4. August 2011 02:16

The idea of analyzing your life…taking it apart and finding the reasons behind the current state of emotional/mental health was a staple of a help from the trained health professional. The couch and a concerned voice of the doctor asking” …and how do you feel about it ?...” was  the  first image in my head …  when thinking about regaining emotional balance and  health. Solving our problems through the mental plane of action…thinking, analyzing, understanding...may work for some of us, in some situations …but not always and not for everybody. Actually reliving some of the past trauma …over and over again through talking about it, thinking and feeling may not  be the most healthy approach…especially for the empathic or sensitive individuals, who tend to react physically to the stress…”storing” it in their bodies…The imagination is a wonderful tool of our brain …but for some of us could be so vivid that, after reliving the past negativity …we can hardly tell a difference between reality or  memories in our emotional reaction…  I have read not long ago, that more health  professionals believe, our bodies can heal through the work during meditations or yoga, resolving  a lot of emotional issues from the past and taking a “road less travelled” …not through analyzing the mind but  through feelings…intuition…

I have seen a very positive effect on my life, due to yoga practice and meditation. Feeling that  you are tapping into collective conscious; wise spirit at your core… finding balance and  answers by allowing to open yourself to this kind of experiences and not only forcing the issues with logic, bounded by the limits of the thinking process. Taking a couple of yoga classes a week or maybe just one or two…learning to relax and meditate is the best gift you can offer not only to yourself but to everyone around you…It will change you…your way will be your individual one…what you need the most…The concept of healing, as in making our self whole...versus “fighting the condition, illness, emotional state” is not only a different perception but also the way we seek to balance our lives. We all have to become our best friends…listening to our bodies in self awareness of subtle messages.

Learning the wonderful state of balance and working on achieving it, is for some people the Utopian idea… the definition of an unobtainable perfection… but , I would say we are not chasing the dreams… just living them the best we can ...under the  ever changing set of circumstances. Balance is not a state to be achieved once and for all …that’s  the utopia ...its rather a series of readjustments …sometime small and sometime big to find a peace and optimum conditions…Life is the “ change” so is the balance …which exist in the definition …but in reality is the string of “baby steps”…finding  the “right recipe”. It’s like watching a circus performer walking on the thin line…. Continuously adjusting  in series of movements … at the end in balance… what a spectacular  show  and artistry ….all achieved through fine tuning into its own body ...knowing the  flexibility, movement , change , readjustment …instinct and experience will help to achieve it …no guarantees…they don’t exist…only  a will to try …. To walk this thin line… of uncertainty ….and no promises….Yes, it will take courage , trust, perseverance, good  plan and many more…to learn this “magic trick” …but I believe we all deserve to have a chance to do it ..on our own terms and at the right  time…

The Little Prince

"People where you live," the little prince said, "grow five thousand roses in one garden... yet they don't find what they're looking for..."

"They don't find it," I answered.

"And yet what they're looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water..."

"Of course," I answered.

And the little prince added, "But eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart."
