Trust Your Intuition 14th Day

Trust your intuition….

How many times in your life you’ve wished …you would’ve followed  your gut feeling, this unexplained conviction coming from nowhere but being so decisive.

How many times, you actually did and it paid off…? Pure luck, coincidence or just statistical probability…?

If we can’t find logical explanation for it, we tend to dismiss it as something purely irrational...but sooner or later  more and more situations arrive, where listening to that “voice” turns out to be, not only correct but lifesaving. I remember when my son was very sick and later on, end up having surgery….numerous times my “feeling” that something was not right, saved his life. Best “gift” for the new mother is giving her an advice on trusting and following her intuition. I have read this book “Blink” The power of thinking without thinking by Malcolm Gladwell where author goes on explaining his theory of “instinct”, “gut feeling”…

Very interesting book and worth reading. He argues that intuitive judgment is developed by experience, training, and knowledge He believes it’s our brain …working subconsciously, “thin slicing” collected data, which otherwise wouldn’t be able to be analyzed by us, so quickly on conscious level, giving us that instinctual, gut feeling…Sounds like very plausible explanation… thought not the only one….

Someone more spiritual would probably prefer to see it in the terms of higher and lower self …. Higher self being aware and connected with everything around, with unlimited access to all information ….

However you choose to interpret it, don’t dismiss it from your life because it doesn’t fit into classroom explanation.

Over the years, I’ve noticed that my 10 sec. first impression of the person is surprisingly accurate…later on, it took me, few more months or even years to arrive at the same conclusion as from the first meeting….

In the past … in my “logical” period of life …when I decided to say goodbye  to “magical” thinking from childhood I’ve done my share of “oops” …should of trust that feeling..  I just assumed then, that a little” voice” was my imagination and I was not going to judge someone based on it …… I was pretty sorry…, well, at least learned some lessons…J

If I could give just one advice on how to be a better” listener” …more sensitive and receptive …it would be, first of all to have an open mind , not to dismiss unexplainable…just because we can’t find an 100% valuable explanation doesn’t mean it’s not there…

One day we may see it as the simplest and easiest of the facts.

Second of all, it would help to “quiet your mind”…(came to like this term, because that’s how it  feels, when you are more focus , at peace with yourself and your emotions and as the outside noise disappears….Yoga and meditation, were very helpful to me…to experience it for the very first time J)…. and as a result be more aware of "subtle guidance"…

It may be very subtle in the beginning , but the more you use it and trust it, it will become more obvious.

And at the end, sort of funny story with taking a test …I believe an  IQ test. There was one question, which I had trouble with, but I was determined to analyze it really good ( actually, logic was always my strong point) so  I did spend some time on it and came up with my answer, but out of shear" experiment" , decided to involve my intuition/gut feeling, to  decide on solution for that question,  purely  based on hunch ....( in the matter of few seconds)….well, the end of the story is, as you guessed, I choose my intuitive answer, just for fun….but it turned out to be the correct one… is “strange” :)

The Little Prince

"People where you live," the little prince said, "grow five thousand roses in one garden... yet they don't find what they're looking for..."

"They don't find it," I answered.

"And yet what they're looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water..."

"Of course," I answered.

And the little prince added, "But eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart."
