Our Emotions

by Agnieszka 18. July 2011 12:15

Sometime our bodies will give us more, than a fair share of the clues about our emotional responses.  We may try to close our eyes to the obvious, not wanting to see the hurtful elements….but eventually it’s the best, to face and understand our feelings...

It’s not only the honest and respectful approach towards one’s life, but necessary tool for growing and maturing. It is the secret passage to better awareness of who we are, tapping into subconscious motives or painful experiences, which can guide our emotional reactions. When we find the reasons behind our feelings, then we are able to acknowledge them as a part of who we are at that moment, yet we are no longer “owned” by them.

It’s a “smart detachment”…when we can observe with knowledge but without coldness of emotional disconnection. In order to influence our responses, we need to understand the motives. It  will  give us a sense of  control, embracing the idea of us,  as a multidimensional  beings in the process of change, taking one step at the time toward  balance between understanding and feeling. One without the other will result in one sided way of seeing the world. Relaying just on our mental attributes to analyze, understand and conquer our emotions will make us too detached from feelings.  We will perceive life in the calculating, exact, emotionally cold way….where compassion, love; hurt…are just empty words from the vocabulary. On the other hand, when we allow to be taken over by pure emotions without any comprehension of its origins …we end up walking the path of existence full of powerful feelings but lost in the labyrinth of the same patterns, without a chance for a growth.

Understanding our emotional answers is the first step to healing, overcoming limitations, developing stronger, more balanced and peaceful self.  Once we let go of the specific feelings, associated with persons or situations and we decide to change our reactions …our bodies will free from unnecessary stress, relax and enter the state of harmony again.

We  may chose few different ways to complete  this  detective work …from meditation, yoga, mindful analyzing, writing  to anything that will connects us  to the  inner self and its truth…bypassing emotions or  logic and  getting in touch with higher awareness. The truth is always better than muddy waters of emotional confusion, acting from needs, wants and strong ego drives. Knowledge of oneself is a very powerful aspect of achieving balance, growing and becoming a reflection of “our best version”…with fully open heart, embracing wisdom, patience and tolerance. We are the students…the way we learn is our option… chose wisely…

The Little Prince

"People where you live," the little prince said, "grow five thousand roses in one garden... yet they don't find what they're looking for..."

"They don't find it," I answered.

"And yet what they're looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water..."

"Of course," I answered.

And the little prince added, "But eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart."
